Our Capabilities
SpaceOps NZ provides a practical set of ground segment services delivered across Awarua Satellite Ground Station and Warkworth Space Centre. Engage us for a single service, or combine capabilities into a complete mission support package.
Antenna Hosting
Host your antenna at Awarua Satellite Ground Station and operate from one of the cleanest southern hemisphere RF environments available. SpaceOps NZ can support you from site planning through installation, commissioning and ongoing operations.
What’s included
Site planning support and practical deployment guidance.
Antenna erection and installation services with local engineering, rigging and IT specialists.
Ongoing maintenance and on-site support as required.
Power and connectivity options suitable for mission operations.
How it works
Share your mission requirements (band, antenna size, schedule, data flow needs).
We propose a site plan and hosting approach (including power/connectivity and operational support).
Installation, integration and commissioning at Awarua.
Operate with ongoing support and maintenance from SpaceOps NZ.
Antenna Leasing
Lease time on SpaceOps NZ antennas to support TT&C and payload communications without building your own infrastructure. Leasing enables fast mission start, flexible scaling and reduced capital cost.
Leasing options (high level)
UHF antennas for smallsat operations, including bistatic options for half-duplex use cases.
S/X-band antennas for TT&C and mission operations support.
Ka-band options for missions requiring higher data rates or specific payload needs.
How leasing works
Share mission details (orbit, bands, data volume/latency needs, scheduling constraints).
We confirm suitable antenna options and operational approach.
We onboard your mission and schedule passes/operations.
We deliver mission data and provide ongoing engineering support.
LEOP & Mission Operations
SpaceOps NZ supports launch and early operations phases (LEOP) and broader mission operations, including contingency and emergency spacecraft support. New Zealand’s time-zone and our southern hemisphere geometry make SpaceOps NZ a valuable complement to customer operations teams.
Typical support
LEOP communications support during critical early mission phases.
Operational support during commissioning and transition to steady-state operations.
Contingency support when missions need additional passes or recovery options.
Operational coordination and engineering support aligned to your concept of operations.
What we need from you
Orbit and expected pass geometry requirements.
Frequency band(s) and link budget considerations.
Schedule constraints (critical windows, staffing needs, handover requirements).
Data delivery and security requirements.
Engineering & Integration
SpaceOps NZ provides practical engineering services to establish, integrate and maintain ground station infrastructure and mission operations support. Our team includes engineers, technicians, riggers and IT specialists based in Invercargill and able to support work at Awarua and beyond.
Engineering services
Antenna erection and mechanical installation (including coordination with local crane and plant operators).
RF and baseband integration and commissioning support.
Ongoing maintenance and fault response for hosted and SpaceOps-owned equipment.
Ground segment consulting and design assistance, including antenna and positioner design when required.
Integration approach
We work with your mission operations team to align scheduling, data delivery and operational procedures with your concept of operations. Where SpaceOps is one site within a wider network, we aim to integrate cleanly and reduce operational friction.
RF Licensing
Radio transmitting licences for operations in New Zealand must be held by a New Zealand entity. SpaceOps NZ can obtain and hold licences on behalf of customers, simplifying regulatory compliance for hosted and leased ground segment operations.
What we provide
Guidance on band selection and practical licensing considerations.
License application and ongoing licence holding as the New Zealand entity.
Support for typical licensing timelines (often achievable within weeks).
Clear operational guidance for compliant transmissions and site operations.
What you provide
Operational concept and technical parameters (bands, power, modulation, usage profile).
Your mission timeline and any constraints (e.g., time-critical windows).
Talk to us early
Licensing is easiest when considered early in mission planning. Contact us as soon as your bands and operations concept are known.
